Spanish party

After spent 10 months in Almeria, Spain, I thought it’ s a good idea to say something about Spanish parties, which are completely different than the Polish ones.
Almeria’s nightlife is typical Spanish nightlife, so if you have been to Spain, you should know how it looks like.People usually go out for tapas around 9:30 or 10 ordering a beer or copa and they can order a tapa. Some places provide you with a free tapa but it is usually whatever they give you and not what you choose, but generally you order your drink and choose from a list of tapas and eat whatever you like. At the end, you pay for how many drinks you have ordered rather than an entire meal which makes eating here so cheap. Around 2 AM is when all of the bars and discos start to get crowded with people and the night doesn’t end until 7 AM. My recommendation for anyone looking for a good time in Almeria you should visit 4 Calle which is packed with different places to socialize and meet a lot of nice people. I miss my time in Almeria so badly, especially the weather, which makes you want to go to the party. Today, 3 days before New Year’s Eve I think it would be great to spend this day outdoor in a warm climes. Hate winter! J

Queen Of The South

I want to recommend you a spanish lenguage serie/telenovela based on the bestselling book by Arturo Perez-Reverte, Queen Of The South (La Reina del Sur). This is a super production of the United States Spanish-language network Telemundo. Is a serialized crime drama that centers on Teresa Mendoza. When her drug-dealing boyfriend is suddenly murdered in Mexico, Teresa is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in US and than in Spain, where she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run. In the process, she learns the tools of the trade and strategically positions herself to become the leader of the cartel.

La Reina del Sur is not a typical telenovela. It's a ambitious production filmed in Mexico, USA, Colombia, Spain, Morocco and Gibraltar. It was Telemundo’s most expensive telenovela ever with a budget of $10 million and became the highest-rated program in the Spanish-language network’s 19-year history, averaging nearly 4.2 million total viewers and more than 2.8 million viewers adults 18-49. Its May 30, 2011 series finale was the No. 1 broadcast program of the night, of any language.

It has only 60 episodes and it's possible to watch Queen Of The South with English subtitules.
USA Network is working on an English-language adaptation.

Here you have two trailers of the original Telemundo's La Reina del Sur.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Spanglish

What is Spanglish? Spanglish is simply mixing of Spanish and English. The mixing can serve the purposes of making new Spanglish words, and those words to make Spanglish sentences. There is no rules of what language Spanish or English must come first. Let's take a look at some examples:

What are you doing ahorita? (What are you doing now?)

Yesterday fuimos a la playa. (Yesterday we went to the beach.)

I said, cállate! (I said, shut up!)

This phenomenon is generally used in the Hispanic community. There are no specific grammar rules. Hispanics in the US are creating new words that do not exist by mixing two languages, and they're using them all the time.

Tengo que parquear mi carro. (I have to park my car). In Spanish the word parquear do not exist. This word is a mix of English to park and Spanish ending ear.

Deberías de chequear first. (You should check first). This is the other example of blending English word to check with Spanish ending.

Personally, I think that Spanglish is hurting a little bit the Latino culture in the US, but mixing of Spanish and English by Hispanics living in Miami, Los Angeles, New York and in the other cities is inevitable.
